Company: [untitled]

Founders: José Chayet and Dan Lilienthal

Why I’m Excited: There is a flurry of company-building and investment activity in the broadly defined “creator space,” as the last year has dramatically increased the amount of independent and DIY content creators across a variety of disciplines. All of this creativity starts with the germ of an idea, which grows over time until it’s ultimately distributed. And using one’s voice is the fastest medium for sharing and capturing an idea at the moment of inception. That’s where [untitled] comes in, which is starting with a tool for musical artists and audio creators to capture, store, and nurture content from idea to final product, streamlining a fragmented workflow that inhibits their (and their collaborators’) creation processes. This opportunity to sit at the top of the creativity stack and the team approaching this challenge is what got me (and Niko at General Catalyst) excited about backing [untitled]. José and Dan are creators themselves who are immersed in the independent artist community on both coasts. They spend their time virtually straddling the US-Mexico border between San Diego and Tijuana and have a strong thesis about how important cultural diversity is when it comes to building their company, team, product, and community.

The Role: Founding engineer (iOS) in San Diego or remote. The founders are entrenched in the artist community and are obsessed with solving a problem to accelerate and espouse the creative process and have already built up a small engineering and design team. This role is the perfect fit for someone who wants to balance an engineering management role with getting their hands dirty building the earliest versions of a transformative product. Given how early [untitled] is, this opportunity is particularly ideal for someone who is passionate about music, audio, and the broader creativity space, since they will have a meaningful impact in shaping the broader product direction.
